      FIREWORK BAN IN EFFECT

Fireworks of any kind are illegal within Emigration Canyon City limits.

A statewide fireworks ban is in effect following an executive order issued by Governor Spencer Cox. Our canyon's steep terrain and dry vegetation make fireworks an extreme wildfire risk to our community.

After July 5, the state will review conditions and evaluate next steps ahead of Pioneer Day.

If you see fireworks being used, please report it immediately.

EC Road Safety Improvement Project - Emigration Canyon | 5700 E. to Pinecrest Canyon Rd.

Project Overview

The Emigration Canyon Road Safety Improvement Project is being sponsored by the City of Emigration Canyon in partnership with the Greater Salt Lake Municipal Services District (MSD).This project is funded with $6.5 million federal dollars. The project is managed by the MSD with full project oversight from the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) and the Wasatch Front Regional Council (WFRC).

We are in the first phase of the project, which includes studying existing conditions, including traffic, safety, right-of-way, recreation, land use, parking, etc., and preliminary design of potential safety improvements. The project area encompasses 1.8 miles of Emigration Canyon Road between approximately 5700 East (new red wall) to just past Pinecrest Canyon Road (the horseshoe).

2026 Cipping Days

2026 Chipper Days Emigration Canyon - Anticipated Start Date, July 6th

UFA Wildland Crews Brush Chipping Program

UFA Wildland Crews will chip brush cleared from your property as part of your annual defensible space efforts.

Please keep the following guidelines in mind when preparing your brush piles:

  • No sign-up is required this year. Simply ensure your brush pile is clearly visible from the road so UFA crews can locate it easily.

  • Place brush piles on your property adjacent to the roadway, but not in the road itself. Crews cannot enter private property to retrieve or haul brush.

  • Brush and limbs only. Do not include roots, root balls, dirt, lumber, nails, construction debris, or other non-vegetative materials. Crews will bypass any pile containing prohibited materials.

  • No limbs larger than 10 inches in diameter.

  • Stack limbs neatly in one direction, with the cut ends facing the road whenever possible. This helps crews work more efficiently and safely.

  • Crews will chip the material but will not haul it away. You may request that the wood chips be:

    • Left in a pile, or

    • Broadcast (spread as evenly as possible across your property).

If you have a preference, please place a clearly visible sign on the pile with your instructions. If no sign is provided, chips will be left in a pile by default. Piled chips can be collected for mulch, spread later, or placed in a green waste or garbage container for disposal.

Together, Shaping Our Future

I’m your newly elected mayor, and I sincerely thank you for the trust you’ve placed in me. As a newly incorporated city, we have a meaningful opportunity to build a strong foundation together. My focus will be on responsible governance, coordinated public safety, improving our roads, and planning for an Emigration Canyon Community Center. I look forward to working with residents, listening closely, and shaping the future of our canyon together.

With gratitude,
Mayor Brems
